I recently put the ModernTales RSS feed on my friends page on LiveJournal, when this pops up today.

I never read Anywhere But Here before, but it feels like "casper" has been lerking around Kate at the bookstore.

Most people hold comments until the end of a story or storyline. Now you no longer have any excuses. This is it, the last week of Nouveau Chemin strips. While Friday is the end of Nouveau Chemin storyline, it is a new beginning for Selby (a “new path”). It is hard to imagine that this all started in...

The London bombings and todays Zwol: Nouveau Chemin strip
I woke up today and do what I usually do. I check my e-mail and look at a handful of websites, then go to work. I usually read the newest Zwol: Nouveau Chemin that is being posted. Then in my car I heard the news on the radio. I think it is important to note that all of the ZNC strips were written a...

Update: Part three is almost done. Part three of Zwol: Nouveau Chemin contains scenes 6-11. Each scene has approximately 5 strips a week (Monday through Friday) with the exception of scene 6 (with an extra strip on Saturday) and scene 10 (which has 10 strips that spans two weeks). Also of note, ther...

Will Eisner was a great man, but more than just that. He was an innovator, a genius, a teacher and an inspiration to many. While other comic creators have passed away who have created bigger superheroes that will be known for centuries, Eisner was himself a bigger hero then any he or others created.

My two-cents worth is that it depends on the size and kind of image. If it a really large image, I would concider saving it as mulitable files. Full color images with gradiants should be saved with a jpg (I use level 6). Black and white line art should be saved as a 6 "color" gif. File size should n...

I never get the writer who does not want to show a sample of their work because somebody might steal their idea. Let's just face it, people ... there is nothing new under the sun and it has all been done before. Furthermore (with no offence to any writer here or there), when somebody posts ?looking ...

The real question that comes to me is ... what are your goals? Are you trying to get published? Are you looking for experience? Do you just want to tell a story? Or perhaps something else ... Then you have to differentiate between long-term goals and short-term goals. No matter what your goals are, ...

Eric gave me a sneak peak at this comic before completed, so I have been waiting for a while to comment about it here and especially to see what was William's reaction to the "adaptation". What got me was the whole separate storylines that related, but not really. I always thought William's head was...

Well I have posted about many of my experiences in another item you posted . Suggestions: Send an e-mail to somebody who is already or recently in the past produced something. It does not have to be local but sometimes sitting over coffee and talking helps. Of course one could do similar on AIM or t...

Speaking as both an artist and a writer, I will give my experiences. I have been on Zwol for a while and got to know a lot of the regulars. If you notice, most of the writers looking for artists have only posted one or two times. The key is getting to know your forum members. Alex Danner was a forum...

Not really a recomendation, but I would stear clear from any "how to draw comics" books. All "how to draw comics" books suck majorly. So look for general art books, or take an art class ... however I know you have already done so Vince and your art shows it. So I am not sure what exactly you are loo...

It was back in late October when Greg was doing his cross-country thing. He stopped by one night and had dinner at my house. We really did not do much, but there we were; the creator of Zwol and the writer of Nouveau Chemin sitting at the table together. Not only that, but we had each used ourselves...

Hey Eric, Good comic. I really like the coloring and the lettering you choose. The journal entry just has the feel of a web comic, so the adaption is just right. However no matter how much I look at it, Blu looks almost exactly like Eric Wilmoth (the one with the H2O). One thing about illustrating s...

I hate to agree with Neil, but the system sucks the way it is and change is not happening. Many people blame Nader for Gore not winning in 2000 and look who ended up in office because of it. Furthermore, see how Nader did not do as well this year because people believe they do not want to "waste the...
