I tried inking with a crow quill pen and a 102 point on bristol board. But fibers kept getting in the point and messing up the art. Any advice on this? Am I pressing too hard? Get a better grade of board? It was cold press with a smooth surface.

Yes, practice, practice, practice. If you are using a brush, it does take time to get the feel for it. Make sure you are turning the paper so you are always pulling the brush. Then, practice, practice, practice.

I've gone through ups and downs with my web comic too. But bottom line, I love doing it. Cartooning is just in my blood. What I didn't like was keeping a schedule. It became to much a second job and I wasn't going to do that for free. If I was getting paid it would be a different story. Of course my...

liquid paper is terrible. Use bleed proof white paint. Dr. Ph. Martin's is a good one.

Hi Jonnystorm. I am glad you are here and trying to explain yourself. That shows a good attitude. I just checked out the dotComics. It?s not so bad. I found it a little tricky at first but it didn?t take me too long to figure out the interface. I would suggest however that when the panels pop up to ...

looks good. A couple of suggestions. The type is a little small and hard to read. The first couple of frames it is hard to tell who is talking, the word balloon is too far away. And last, the whole image is a little big, I had to scroll both up and down and left and right. Either make it fit in the ...

I work like Craig. When stuck brake out the phone book. I have picked up phone book from different areas of the USA when I can. Common names are very different in other states than mine. I also have used the theme for names. The police in Super Mort have dance names, Charleston, Lindsey and so on. T...

I had a fleeting thought of why is there a cigarette but on the floor, but he is smoking a pipe. If I had more forethought I wold have put the bong in his hands. I used to do my comic in pieces too and then set them up in flash. But that got to be a bother when thing wouldn?t align and the compositi...

I love looking at sketchbooks. I think it really shows what makes an artist tick. They are something you do for yourself and not an audience. Looking forward to seeing more.

Ding a page a day depends on what you are doing it for. If it is your job and have a deadline, you don't have much of a choice. If it is for your own site, then do what suits you best. What is your goal, what are you trying to accomplish. I would much rather see a quality page than a mediocre one. B...

I would like to say quality was misspelled on purpose, but it was not. I am horrible at spelling and spell check usually saves me, but not this time. That?s what I get for staying up late. Cat, how do you set up the art for PhotoShop? Do you draw the foreground and background separately? I drew it a...

spiderweb, I know I told you I didn't have time for this, but I couldn't resist.

I am in the middle of moving and my art supplies are packed. So I did this with a ball point pen at the kitchen table while my wife was trying to set it for dinner. Comics first!

The best part about web comics is pushing the limits. Does it really matter what they are called? As artists we should be pushing the medium for all its worth, that's the fun part. For once money is not driving the medium so we can experiment much more. As for animation, I was going to put some on m...
