Some would suggest that they're already just doing "democracy shadow puppets" with two parties, massive amounts of money neeeded to run a campaign, and the electoral college.

Thanks getting it done before tuesdayis why I was up until 5am last night

. Now I just need to get the front and back cover done and start assembling the comics so I can hand out my propaganda before and on tuesday.

Yeah I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I wanted to suggest that it is not yet hopeless.

You know, the other day the calssic Stallone movie "Demolition Man" was on and there was a passing joke about "President Schwartzenegger"

Given current events, I think Demolition Man might turn out the be prohpetic.

Oooo thanks for the prrof reading, I think it should be fixed now. As far as my running mate? We'll see, considering edwards wasn't announced as Kerry's running mate until a few months ago I think I have some time.

While I would support you as a candidate, how the heck are you going to get your name out and not become just yet another name in those "third party" you listed ... i.e.: where are you going to get the millions of dollars of cash to run?

No, I meant it in the sense of how you used the form of comics in the telling of the tale. Not all comics actually use the form as strongly as they could. I think this one was more successful than most in that regard.

Great comic Kris. Your visual rhetoric was fantastic!

However, I'm afraid that I disagree with your statements. Voting for a third party candidate in America doesn't work, not because of apathy or ignorance, but because our system is only designed to handle two parties due to the "winner take all" style elections we have. (The Founders thought parties were a bad idea, but had to deal with them after the election of 1800.)

If you really want a candidate who represents your views, the practical thing isn't to run to a different party that will never get heard in a system that isn't designed for them, but to take over one of the existing major parties. In fact, this is exactly what the neo-cons did to the Republican party post-Barry Goldwater, and why we're in the mess we're in.

And, since this is the "Hype" forum, I'd like to point out that all of this stuff (and more!! including more suggestions!) is discussed in my political book with Thom Hartmann, We the People: A Call to Take Back America, which came out earlier this year. Plus, given the election results, everything we discuss in there is still relevant!

Sorry... I hope you don't think I'm ragging on your views. The comic really was excuted superbly, and I'd probably vote for you!

I hate to agree with Neil, but the system sucks the way it is and change is not happening. Many people blame Nader for Gore not winning in 2000 and look who ended up in office because of it. Furthermore, see how Nader did not do as well this year because people believe they do not want to "waste their vote" on a party that has no chance in actually winning. If Nader became a democrat just for the sake of getting equal time and money, change could be made from inside. Frankly, I thought a Kerry/Nader ticket would have been kick-ass, but Kerry choose Edwards as a running mate.

While I do not agree that Kerry was just a "lite" version of Bush, I do agree that the system has to change to create more diversity. The tricky part is to get a third party in there that has any equality of the other two parties. That means getting on EVERY state's ballet and have equal time on TV and in debates. The last person to do so was Perot. Ross Perot was a billionaire and that is how you get your voice heard ... money.

To everybody:

I definitely don't mind hearing that you disagree with me. I'm just really happy that my comic spurs thought and discussion. I definitely plan on further installments in this series and I intend to at least touch on if not thoroughly cover all of the good points everyone has brought up to me both in person and in Internet land. The only bad thing about all of this feedback is that I'm really tempted to do another installment of this series right away, but as an artist I really feel like I should complete a different type of comic first. Thanks for reading and commenting.

I just read Neil's book. I think anyone who is interested in the subjects relating to my comic should definately read Neil's book.
