The Accidental Dentist

Post by gareis »

Hey, congrats, Decaf--you got your own improv.

And it looks like Morrie Dougan stopped taking his meds.

Yeah, but instead he's turned to alcohol - assuming the punch has been spiked (and what kind of party would it be if it wasn't?).

Actually, I think this guy has more hair than Morrie.

Am I insane, or was Bill not wearing a name tag on Monday?

(If any of you wise-asses answer "both", I'll sic my operatives on you!)

If you are insane then so am I, but who knows maybe I am insane, unless I'm not.

You may be insane, but you're also correct.

I think Scott should do one where he goes back and changes stuff in previous panels every day. By the end, the early panels could be altered enough to make the story completely different than it would have been had it all stayed the same.

I like the wickedness of the intellectual antagonism with which all possible expectations of the Improv are being brought up, passed and crushed in this forum. It sure adds to the whole challenge for Mr. McCloud. :D

Is car repair not recession proof?

Post by Rip Tanion »

I'm not sure if agree with Bill's statement about Car Repair not being recession proof, "When yer broke, you let things go."

I think most people who own a car would let their teeth rot out of their head before they gave up their car; especially those people who don't have the luxury of a decent public transportation system. And if you're broke, you're not going to be buying a new car; which mean you're going to have to keep the "old girl" going; which means regular trips to the mechanic; especially since the number people who can maintain their own vehicles has shrunk significantly in the last twenty years, due largly in part to the use computer controled onboard systems.

I'm no auto mechanic, nor am I an economist, or even a dentisit (though for the right prices, I'll play either on T.V.), but I know that if the car don't start, I'm not gonna be getting over to my dentist's office anytime soon.

Personally, I'm an advocate of the "string tied to the door-knob" method.

But there's a difference between the maintenance that absolutely must be done in order to keep the car moving and the maintenance that you would like to have done. The less money one has to throw around, the more likely it is that the minor repairs will get ignored, though they may build into major problems later on and cost more money in the long run. (But who said people are rational?)

I must sheepishly admit that even I don't know if Billy's assessment is correct.

In truth, I was just casting about for a small-talky way to identify their respective occupations.

I see the President of the United States has now visted M.I. Is this to emphasise that Pete is doing well, because he's palling around with the most powerful man in the world (is Pete responsible for maintaining George W's presidential smile), or is M.I. going to go political? Or is this party a Yale re-union?

I can only assume that was a joke. That's G.W.B, right down to the stars and stripes tie.

GWB, certainly. The last character has curv?d lines indicative of B rather than E.

It looks like the comic's done already, doesn't it?

I assume MI is going political. George is going to top both Pete's (and probably Bill's) tales of accidental accomplishment.

Minor insight

Post by wansley »

I just has a minor insight, or perhaps "micro-insight" would a be more appropriate description. I always thought that there was something oddly appropriate about the phrase accidental dentist and I only just now realized that it's because "dental" is part of "accidental"!

I'd say THAT qualifies as an accidental accomplishment. "Let he who cast the first stone, " ladies and gentelmen.

PS. I spiked the punch with Oxy-Contin.

Axe-i-dental? sounds painful. unless there's painkillers.

that'll make a great horror film... NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD DENTISTS WITH AXES. "they feed upon the pulled teeth of the living!" *the black guy dies first*

Oh, great, not only do I forget that I suggested "Accidental Dentist," but I don't show up until it's three panels and 19 posts in!

(edit: Er, in case you don't know, I'm Nick Douglas.)
