Short Story

Post by GreyBubbleGum »

It started off with the city demographic of wealthy family. At first, it was only a small time thing, where parents who didn't have the time to run their business and take care of a newborn child sent the child into a certain part of town highly renowned for it's great childcare service. This area (which is now our desolated area) had the best child care service there ever was. The parents were to sent the kids off for a few years, to grow up enough to the point where they can speak and learn. Parents of course then soon came back to pick up their kids, and bring them into the family business. Of course back then, the parents of these kids who sent their kid off to childcare service, love their kids. They visited their kids anytime they could, and there wasn't one moment where a parent have not picked up their kid.

That is, until two newly weds, decided to have their kid early. Because this is a wealthy city, the parents in the city knew well enough to teach their teenager not to have children early on because they will not be able to balance the family business with that of taking care of a kid. However, these two newly weds decided to be the first one in the city to not follow such an important advice that has been somewhat of a culture within the city. These newly weds, did not do this out of disrespect and rebellion. They wanted to change such a culture, a culture where parents must depart with their kids for the first few years. They wanted to show, and prove to the city that you can balance such a life. That you can take care of your newborn kid, while running the family business as well. The age recommended for these teenagers to have kid was 30. That was the age when the teenage become a full adult, have a full understand of life, and the family business. This age recommendation came about, not because of the well being of taking care of the business but the well being of taking care of your newborn child. Money is one of the very most important factor in life, if you could manage your money, your can give your kid that life that they deserve, which is how this ideal of having kids at a later age came about.

Of course, these two newly weds wanted to spend all their time with their kids, to see them say their first words, to change them when they need to be changed, and to see them walk for the first time. And so on that day, they decided they want to change the entire culture of the city to prove to everyone such a life can happen. When they did have a kid, and their parents found out, their parents were still very supportive of their goals, and not once bash on them for such thing. After-all, this city, foster though a very business like culture, also foster the most supportive family structure their was. Things of course went very well the first few years. Romeo and Juliet ( that's what I'm going to called them for now) was the very first parents within the city for decades to have their kid called them Mommy, and Daddy, and saw their kid walk for the first time. It was the biggest news within the city. Everyone knew about it, and everyone was so happy for the two couple. And though no one else had try to attempt such a thing, every parents and soon to be parents wanted to see Romeo and Juliet succeed in this ordeal, and change this city forsaken culture of never hearing their kid called them mommy and daddy. For the first time, this city had hope. Romeo and Juliet now had not only their parents blessing, but the blessing of an entire city. The hopes for a new future, a new life for parents and children now reside on their shoulder.

Of course, taking care of a kid was much harder then they have thought. Within in the boundary of taking care of their kid well being, and learning and understanding the family business, it was pretty much impossible. But with the supportive effort of their parent, they overcame many difficulty. Unfortunately things took a turn for the worst. Soon, their parents got very ill. Now with their parent ill, it got harder and harder to balance learning and taking care of their kid as they were used to splitting the time of taking care of their infant with their parent. With their parent ill, they had to focus more on the business side of the family, and less and less time with their kid. Soon, the culture of the city caught up to them. They knew, for the well being of their kid, that they had to take care of family business first. So as time goes on, they pick up their family business more and more often, and spend less and less time for their kid. They soon left their infant with their ill parents to be taken care of.

Then on that one day, Romeo and Juliet lost their parent to the ill stricken sickness that has plague them for so long. At the age of only 25, they had lost their parents. Now without a mentor, the both of them, took on the family business full time driven by the culture where money was the key happiness to their newborn child. Soon, Romeo and Juliet had to send their kid off to the childcare service even if their kid was now grown up enough to learn and speak properly, Romeo and Juliet did not have enough knowledge of the family business to teach their kid what is need, nnor did they have the time. And so Laxis ( Romeo and Juliet kid) was send to childcare service until his parents could come back to get him. A few years later, Romeo and Juliet caught the very same sickness that killed their parents. However they didn't give up. They live with the disease much longer then their parents had, and kept on learning and mastering the family business, all with the hopes of seeing their kid one day. Because they lost their parent at an early age, Romeo and Juliet had to take a much longer time to learn how to care for the business then most teenager had to. At the age of 40, Romeo and Juliet dies, and this went about the very first orphan within the city .

The city was stricken with sorrow, as they attended Romeo and Juliet funeral, and seeing not just the death of two people, but the death of a hope for a new culture of the city for everyone to come. At the funeral too, was Laxis. However at such a young age, he couldn't see what his parent was trying to do. All he knew at that time, was that they left him on his own, all for the sake of running a business, and making money. Money was all the Timmy saw his parent cared about. And for that, he was stricken with grief and anger.

The childcare service, took care of him to the very end. Laxis now a young boy, grown up without a parent, grew up to despise the kid around him who had a parent waiting for them. He was and will always be the oldest kid at the childcare service, and soon his hatred for the orphanage grew and grew. He hate his current life, he hated how the other kids had parents, and most of all, he hated the god dam childcare center in which he was trapped in. With that day forward, Laxis promise he will make every kid within the city have the same hatred he has grown to live with.

So at the young age of 15, Laxis had learn and master the family business left behind for him by his parent. Now only did he master his family business, he has improve on it, and made it became the dominant company at the age of 25. Soon, Laxis now, with the full understanding of how business work, how the city worked, and the culture of this city, took full advantage of it. Though Laxis knew the culture of the city and it's history, he had to much hate inside of him to see why his parent had to keep on working. So Laxis went out and about, and encourage an entire new group of teenager, to have their kids early on. He was a shining example, showing that even without a parent you could still grow up to be a great leader. He told them, that though his life was a little bit more unfortunate then most kid, they should try to replicate what his parent try to do, knowing the people around him didn't have what it takes. And so the teenagers of his generation listen, even against their parents advice. This soon, came about more and more kids having to spend more and more time within the childcare service, as Romeo and Juliet were a special kind of person. These new parents didn't have as much of the dedication Romeo and Juliet had, and even with their parents help, they couldn't balance enough between work and taking care of the kids, even if they wanted to.

This culture soon changed, this entire city has changed. The childcare service now serve not as a place to take care of the young ones, but to grow them up in the parent stead. As more and more kids from the childcare service grew up and went into the world as teenagers who had lived a life within those walls. They also came into the world with the feeling of hatred of the that very place. The so called "first home" .The same hate Timmy had felt. And the same hate that will grow and grow and grow. Parents, now became more and more unprepared. It just took more and more time, and became more and more difficult to balance such a life. And with stress, came hate. A hate that could be shared. A hate they needed someone to released it on. And this also create a second layer of culture within the city. The hatred for kid, and the enjoyment of sending kids off to their "First Home". This culture has completely changed. Parents now didn't hesitate to send their kid off, to ease their life of what was once a gift, now a burden.

Laxis soon grew the culture he wanted, and with his family business at the top of the real estate and new infrastructure, he made a distinct line, between the city, and the childcare service area. People could now truly see, the happy side of city, the one without kids, and the other side of city where all the orphanage were. With this, Laxis started to convince more and more family that, kids at a young age were only a burden. A burden that can be taken care of with just a small amount of funding. With that, Timmy cut off the majority of funding for the the childcare service side of town, which soon starting taking on the look of a desolated town, as funding went dry and there was barely enough to take care of the kids.

With that, it create a culture of parents who were more and more strict with their new kids, and now, with each generation having an experience of being forced to learn at an early age and mastering their business so early on, they could now balance such a life between raising their kid and taking care of the business. This talent of being able to balance the two, in which the generation before them could only dream of, was now given to a new generation that saw that very time to be wasteful. Any kid who could meet their parent standard were allow to stay, otherwise, they were sent to orphanage side of town and forgotten. And that forge a very distinct line between, well groomed, well mannered kids who obey their parents, to that of kids who otherwise undesirable.

Over a few more years, parents grew to view kids not as a their kids, but a tool to help take care of their business. Those who did not learn fast at a young age, were brought over to the orphanage and left there forever, while the parents try to have a new kid, hoping that this one will turn out much better. The city has changed so much since that time. It was no longer unusual to leave their kids to the outskirt and never come back for them, forming the city very first orphanage. This orphanage side of town was their first home if they aren't desirable, and the last place any kid wanted to go.
