Word of the Day Comic Jam (Semi-Retired)
Hello everyone
Here's how it goes..
The idea is to draw a comic jam based on keywords found in Word of the Day from dictionary.com.
For example, if the Word of the Day for Thursday is "logorrhea", then the first artist will draw a comic panel based on this keyword.
The second artist who comes in on say, Friday, will obtain another keyword from dictionary.com. He/She will then create another panel related to this keyword that can link up to the story of the previous panel.
However, if there are multiple submission for the day with the same keyword, we will collect all of the panels and put it up on the comic jam.The next day, artists who comes in could choose any one of the previous panels to continue the jam.
Format: GIF/JPEG of any size
You can either post your panels at zwol.org forum here or you can email it to me at beensprouts@yahoo.com
I will also be maintaining a website where everyone can view all the panels.
http://www.geocities.com/beensprouts/dictionaryjam.htm
Enjoy and have fun on this comic jam
Many thanks to Greg and zwol.org !

Pretty tough for not English speakers...
Uuuh!
The idea is great!
But those Words! Aaargh! Sure, for you it's just some kind of strange words, but for me... I thought my english is not that bad, but now...
So, I think I have to learn some new vocabulary to jump in.
I found a great Site for translations: Babelfish
Maybe I'm not the onlyone with this kind of problem... Hopefully!
Greetings from Germany!

10 word-of-the-day per jam
I forgot to mention that each strip will consist of max 10 word-of-the-day. After the 10th word is used up, the next artist will start on a brand new strip.
By the way, what do you guys think of the words from Word of the Day(dictionary.com)? For me, it's actually the first time that i've seen the word "logorrhea" Anyway, maybe it's because English is my second language (King of Swing, you too?;) ), probably you guys find it easier to understand those interesting and challenging words.
But I think it's a fun way to learn new words this way

English
I've been speaking English my whole life, and I've never seen "logorreah". It looks like a cross between the Greek "logos"(word) and the English "diarreah"(uncontrollable liquid excrement), which forms a disgusting but accurate mental picture.
It helps that they come with definitions.

Bear in mind, the whole point of Dictionary.com's word of the day is to expand the vocabulary of people who already have large English vocabularies. So these are going to be the most obscure words in the English language.
Trying to get these words into dialogue will be impossible, since almost no one would actually use them in conversation. However, I think it's important to note that the jam requires that the words inspire a panel, not that they be used in dialogue. You don't have to incorporate the word "logorrhea," just the concept behind it.

It's up to you. But since there are some announced words that haven't been used yet, and once somebody does a panel for any given word, we're stuck until a new word is announced, I think it's a good idea to draw from that backlog of words. Perhaps you could keep building a list of words based on the word of the day, but you could choose which word is called for?
Good morning! That's a nice tnetennba.
Here's my suggestion.
I will maintain a list containing all the words for the last 10 days (to prevent the list from getting too long and messy), and anyone can choose any of the words from the list as a basis for the next panel.
so, this way we don't have to draw panels according to the date of the Word, more flexibility.
But remember that it's a 10 panel jam. So we'll start on another story after the 10th panel is submitted.
Agree?

Well then...
I suppose since I was harrassed so nicely, I'll join up. Am I correct in assuming there's only been two panels thus far? I'll jot up a panel tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks John. Good to hear from you
And yes, we have 2 panels so far.
Look forward to see your panel
