.. every time i read the next installment of panels.. i get into the story and
my mind starts finishing their conversation. ...
.. the next line i thought would be something like..
** //////\\/\
* / ///|\\\\\\
* /''\ / o \ o \
*|<. ' <_\ ./
* \_ ./'''''\ '.| ~ ~ ~ / "jeez.. ahm sahry, .. i'd give you ah hug but i kinda smell terrible."
** \. ''''''''' /
*** '''''''''''
(man that ascii homeless guy was hell...
you cant put more than one space between letters
when posting..) just thought i would share that
moment in my head with everyone.

Poor pops. He's mixed in amongst the Kruller crumbs, and the rest of him is sleeping with the alligators and CHUDs.
Hmmm, I just thought of a disturbing commercial. Fred the Donut Guy (aka Sam Breakstone) is working at the crematorium, and he sleepily walks to the furnace room, muttering, "Time to burn the corpses."

Guess they're just powdered donuts .
By the way Scott, I thought it was interesting what you did with the third and fourth panels. While I'm no expert on interpreting comic composition, would I be right to guess that the combination of the man's head with the womans body is to symbolize a type of unity of thought or perhaps a feeling of empathy for the woman?

Actually those two panels:
...were an accident.
I only noticed after the linework went in that it looked like a single figure. I even changed the lines somewhat to lessen the effect?though not enough.
While it could be interpreted symbolically (as Veleno did) I'm afraid it was just too distracting, and undercut that moment a bit.

Yow.
This may be a little premature, but Somnivore might have a challenger for "my favorite Morning Improv..." I love the way this is being told. Can't help but notice that things really got interesting when the more mental tendencies of the primary characters receeded into the background, though. These two probably aren't so much crazy as damanged and lonely.

Ok, 2 predictions:
1: Of course he knows about sewage...sanitation was his "gov'mint job"
2: She's going to dump the ashes in the sewer so that they will make it to the ocean, a beautiful place.
Unrelated, when I was checking to see whether or not it was ever actually said what the government job was, I noticed that the style of the art at the beginning seemed a lot more angular than what I have gotten more used to with more recent pages. Anyone else see this?

The wind blowing. Ashes in some food goods packaging. Makes me think of the Big Lebowski..

Nah... I think perhaps her other voice might suggest it when the guy is waiting down the way, but it would be too depressing an ending to an otherwise charming improv.
I think she's going to finally mourn the loss of her father, rather than carrying him around. Then she'll go the shelter, and maybe a series of the sorts of dates homeless people go on?

her next move
Like Bumblejumper, my first thought was that she's going to jump.
My second thought was that she's going to get one of the doughnuts out of her bag and eat it. After all, we haven't actually seen any ashes.

OK, we got Sean and Sophie. What about the other two (or more) personalites? Don't they have names? Or are they just shy?
I don't think she's going to jump. Not now that she's met Sean. She just wants to be alone with Pops (or what lefts of him); to say goodbye to him, and then dump him in the river.

I've spent about a total of about 5 days of my life in Boston, icluding one Saturaday afternoon-evening of drinking in Cambridge, so I can say without a doubt I've seen that bridge before.I'm wondering if that bridge is on the Esplenade, or if it's one of the Harvard "foot bridges"...it looks like they walked for a while to get there--they could be in Cambridge, now.

Sean? I thought his name was Smeagol. Maybe that's the other one.
Been gone awhile due to computer problems *waves to everyone* but it was really nice to catch up on this improv with a nice big chunk to read. This one has been really good. So many different directions it could have been taken in at every step of the way. Bravo, Scott.

Yeah, definitely a familiar looking bridge in the Cambridge/Somerville area. I'm going to guess the Larz Anderson Bridge, though I've only been down that way a couple of times.Rip Tanion wrote:I've spent about a total of about 5 days of my life in Boston, icluding one Saturaday afternoon-evening of drinking in Cambridge, so I can say without a doubt I've seen that bridge before.I'm wondering if that bridge is on the Esplenade, or if it's one of the Harvard "foot bridges"...it looks like they walked for a while to get there--they could be in Cambridge, now.
